19-Year-Old Alfie Takes Delivery of His First Lease Car
Alfie came to Pendle Lease with one goal: leasing himself a brand new car as a reflection of his hard work over the last 18-months. After starting his first "proper" job out of college, Alfie jumped straight into the world of work in London. Covid might have set him back doing driving lessons and sitting his test, but within a year of passing, he has upgraded from his first car and taken delivery of his stunning, new Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI R-Line DSG.
Young Drivers and Car Finance
Car leasing and the finance process can seem a daunting thing to some, particularly when it comes to young drivers. As a credit broker, Pendle Lease work with a range of finance lenders and they all have their own Terms and Conditions for credit acceptance.
Anyone looking to take out a lease deal must be 18 years and over with a full UK drivers licence. Applicants must complete a credit application form, providing their full name and address (including previous address, if applicable). Employment with income and outgoings are also required to allow to underwriters to assess affordability as part of responsible lending.
As mentioned above, Alfie had jumped straight into full-time employment and was putting the graft in to achieve his goal. While family members of his had leased cars, this was an entirely new thing for him. At 19, Alfie wanted a car that was stylish, comfortable but, most importantly, affordable on insurance and running costs. The 1.0L petrol Volkswagen Polo R-Line instantly fit the bill, and the added bonus of the automatic DSG gearbox was a bonus Alfie had not even considered.

Once the decision was made, he was guided through completing the application form. Understandably, as a young driver, some additional information was requested to support his application. All of this was explained in detail and subsequent credit approval shortly followed.
Now it was just a case of waiting for delivery day!
